We want you to have fun, and we want you to be safe. Please follow these guidelines when visiting our facilities!
Covid-19 procedures:
Fans are to be at least 6 feet apart at all times unless related. Masks are required if social distancing protocols cannot be followed. Masks and Sanitation Stations are available at concession stands and gate entrances to park.
All spectators must bring their own chairs as all bleachers will be closed and used for social distancing for coaches and players only.
Spectators may bring tents, but tents will be limited to immediate family only.

No steel or metal cleats are allowed on the pitching mounds. Pitchers are prohibited from wearing steel cleats!

All patrons must participate in a friendly & sportsmanlike manner. The Rocky Mount Parts & Recreation Physical & Verbal Altercation Policy is enforced at this facility.

The City of Rocky Mount authorizes teams, individuals, & leagues to use the Sports Complex fields. Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

The Sports Complex reserves the right to postpone, delay, or cancel any event at the facility due to unsafe playing conditions, inclement weather, lightning, or general precautionary measures to preserve playing surfaces & maintain a safe environment.

In the event of lightning or inclement weather conditions, patrons, players, and coaches must seek shelter immediately inside their vehicles.

The City of Rocky Mount & the Sports Complex are not responsible for batted or thrown balls or bats on the facility grounds. Patrons must be aware of their surroundings at all times.

The Sports Complex is not responsible for any loss of or damage to personal property.

Outside food & beverages are prohibited inside the admission gates. Two coolers are allowed per team entering.

Pets, skateboards, roller blades, scooters, bikes, or any like items are prohibited inside the admissions gates.

Alcohol, guns, weapons, & glass containers are prohibited.

The Sports Complex is a tobacco-free environment.

All patrons, players, directors, and umpires must park vehicles in designated parking spaces. Vehicles are prohibited inside the confines of the facility. Anyone in violation will have their vehicle towed at the owner’s expense.

Soft tossing or hitting into fencing is prohibited.

There are no refunds for gate entry fees for any reason!

What is the history of the Sports Complex?
From 1921 until 1981, the grounds where the Sports Complex now sits was a full service Municipal Airport. In 1981 it was decommissioned and sat idle until 2004 when the city decided to revamp the land for parks and recreation use. -
What does the Sports Complex include?
The complex consists of six (6) youth baseball fields, five (5) softball/baseball combo fields, an eight (8) field soccer/multi-purpose complex, several lakes for recreational fishing, beach volleyball courts, picnic shelters, and walking trails. -
Who is responsible for the architectural design and construction of the complex?
Site Solutions (Charlotte, NC) are responsible for all complex architectural designs and Barnhill Contractors (Tarboro, NC) oversaw all construction activities. -
Is the complex a public or private venue?
The complex is owned and operated by the City of Rocky Mount and is a Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. -
Is the complex ADA accessible?
Yes, the Sports Complex meets all guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. -
When do the Sports Complex admission gates open?
We generally open our gates at 5:00 pm on weeknights for league play and one hour prior to the start of the first game during weekend tournaments. All other park activities practice a sun up to sun down hours of operation policy. -

When do concessions open for business? What items are available to purchase?
Concessions generally open 30 minutes before the start of the day’s first set of games. Our menu includes: Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches, Pizza Inn pizza, Zaxby’s chicken sandwiches; McDonald’s cheeseburgers, parfaits and apple pies; Jersey Mikes subs, candy bars, crackers, Slim Jims, granola bars, sunflower seeds, Coca-Cola products, and Powerade. More will be added as we continue to grow, so have lunch or dinner with us! -
How does one go about signing up for a tournament at the complex?
A list of current tournaments and their directors can be found on our website. To enter a tournament, simply contact that specific tournament’s director. -
Are outside coolers allowed in the complex?
Spectators are not permitted to bring coolers into the complex; however, we do allow two coolers per team at all tournaments. -
Can patrons bring their own food into the complex?
Unfortunately outside food is not permitted through complex gates. However, we do allow spectators and participants to tailgate in the parking lot area if they would like. Come early and make a day of it. We simply ask that you assist in keeping our grounds trash free. -
What organizations currently host tournaments at the Sports Complex?
We host an assortment of girls’ fast pitch softball, youth baseball, and adult slow pitch softball tournaments. Our fast pitch softball tournaments include: USSSA; Baseball organizations: Top Gun Sports; Triple Crown; Nations Baseball, USSSA and Dynamic Baseball. Soccer Organization: NCYSA, USYS-National League and CASL. -
How far have teams traveled to participate at the Sorts Complex?
Teams from the following states have either already participated in a tournament at the Sports Complex: Ohio, Delaware, West Virginia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New York, Missouri, Wisconsin, Texas. Arizona, California, Washington, and of course North Carolina. -
Are staff members on-site and available for assistance during games and tournaments?
At all times we have site managers, concessions, grounds crew, and ticket personnel on site for your assistance. Simply look for the staff shirts patrolling the grounds. -
If coming from out of town, are teams and families allowed to park RV’s overnight in the complex parking lot?
Unfortunately not, but we do have partnerships with several area hotels to offer you a great room at an affordable price. Check the hotel and restaurant link on our website for more details. -
Is the complex a wireless facility?
The baseball and softball hubs are wireless and available to the public. The soccer fields and football stadium are currently in the works. -
Is a changing room provided for umpires?
We offer perhaps the best dressing facility for umpires on the entire east coast. It is air conditioned for those hot tournament days and provides plenty of room to stretch and relax between games. Other amenities include a cooler for personal food and drinks, chairs, tables, and clothes racks. -
Can complex guests fish in the ponds?
Our ponds are fully stocked with many types of fish and you are more than welcome to bring your pole along with you during your visit. We do, however, require that you adhere to our catch and release policy when participating in this complex activity. -
If an individual is injured, where is the nearest hospital/emergency room?
The nearest emergency services are located at Nash General Hospital and the local Urgent Care. Both health facilities are located within a short drive of the complex. Directions to both are available with our complex personnel upon your request. -
What extra curricular activities are available for a family to do during their visit to the complex and the Rocky Mount area?
Local amusements include, the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences, Stonewall Manor, many local parks, Premiere Movie Theatre, Golden East Crossing Mall, Rocky Mount Brew Mill, and many other attractions. -
When did the city acquire the football stadium?
The football stadium has been home to the Rocky Mount Gryphons since the late 80’s. Rocky Mount High School recently opened a new school with facilities on site. In July of 2012, the city took over control of the grounds and maintenance of the old stadium.
